Out of nowhere Coloursound, a fresh new night that hosts house music artists from across the globe, appears providing Soundcontrol with a connoisseurs’ blend of house grooves which made the crowd go wild on its Manchester launch night October 15th.

At its full capacity by 1am Coloursound showed Manchester what underground house music is all about, with the appearances of Kevin Saunderson, Kenny Larkin, Lee Foss, Levon Vincent, Fred P and Manchester’s own Si’ke Djs Tom Craven and James Cotterill.

At around half past midnight Soundcontrol already had a long queue of people outside and every person inside tapping their feet and enjoying the vibes. Manchester’s small but raw Soundcontrol was divided into three floors. Kenny Larkin headlined the top floor with his seminal house and techno beats alongside the house and techno sensation Kevin Saunderson, a previous member of ‘Inner City’ who’s hits ‘Good Life’ and ‘Big Fun’ will always be classics for 90’s house music lovers. In the basement Coloursound offered a lighter take on House music with Lee Foss, whose smooth, sexy and innovative disco-fuelled style had the basement at its full capacity singing along and dancing to his tunes. Levon Vincent’s smoky techno and house beats made Soundcontrol go back in time to the 90’s and turn into the Hacienda for a night. The factory inspired venue had the vibes, the people, and the music truly covered. Fred P’s deep grooves in the basement completed the night putting the cherry on top for an unforgettable event.

All the DJ’s were happy with the night, and even the American house legend Marc Kinchen (aka MK), producer of the number one billboard hit “Love Changes- MK feat Alana ” and well known for his remix of the dance classic “Push the Feeling On- Nightcrawlers MK Dub”   attended to see his close friend Kevin Saunderson and was dancing along to all the great beats. “Manchester sure knows how to party”, Kinchen said. I also had a few words with Lee Foss at the end of the night who was eager to move on to the after party that the Coloursound boys had organised. He said “it is my second time playing in Manchester, and it still has those great friendly vibes”. He was happy with his set and is looking forward to playing in Birmingham next for Halloween. The way Soundcontrol is set up allows the Djs to truly connect with the crowd and create a much more intimate night.

In the end all those weeks of anticipation were well and truly worth it and Manchester sure is ready for Coloursound’s next unmissable event on the 3rd of December in Joshua Brookes. The Coloursound boys were very happy with the turn out of their new night, considering it was the launch night they did incredibly well, got the crowd going and kept everyone happy throughout the evening. It is safe to say that Manchester’s house scene is looking forward to the next event already.
